CAPVA (Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse) supports families where a child (aged 11-17) is being abusive towards a parent/carer. CAPVA is delivered by RISE Mutual in partnership with the London Boroughs of Enfield and Haringey.
CAPVA is an intervention where practitioners support the family to build resilience, improve communication, and develop empathy, increasing wellbeing.
CAPVA practitioners will engage parents and children separately in their home over a period of 6-8 months, teaching Non-Violent Resistance techniques and creating community support networks.
Sessions for young people are skillsbased and trauma-informed, using Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) to break negative cycles, supporting children to develop empathy, emotional management, and communication.
